Fat Nation
Holy smokes ... as if Americans weren't fat enough ... fast food restaurants are now marketing something called The Fourth Meal, the meal between dinner and breakfast.

Hey! You live in the land of poutine, buster! No comments about our diets! :-)

I think this tells you more about how many Americans are sleep-deprived, actually.

What an annoying web page... flash for flash sake? Silliness.

It's not so much the number of meals; it's the size of the portions. People in the US LOVE them some big portions; it's not a side of fries unless there are three decent sized potatoes chopped up there, ideally with some sort of dipping sauce...

When you have burritos that clock in at 1200 calories, plus fries and a soft drink, there's a problem. Four sensible, non-taco-bell meals would actually be a good idea in the real world...

I was mainly commenting on the fact that it is fast food restaurants hawking the idea of the fourth meal ... which is bad, especially if people start associating a fourth meal with the drive-thru window.

Making yourself a late night turkey sandwich with a glass of milk certainly isn't a bad thing.

If not Taco-Hell than what, Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonalds? Potatoes are rather healthy things, and you didn't specify the type of burrito. If we're talking a bean burrito, it doesn't get much healthier than that. Beef burrito is a different story though. And calories are an extremely necessary nutrient, not something from Satan. The healthiest people consume the most calories.

That's only a Taco Bell campaign.

I cannot stand that website! I loathe flash (and java)!

The fourth meal is technically called "midnight snack", but I wouldn't know because I use that time to sleep, as should more Americans. Mind you, with a diet of Taco Bell, the indigestion would keep me up all night too.

I need to eat four meals in order to keep from being too skinny and weak and stuff. I think the health problems of Americans is due to a lack of a variety of food and a lack of exercise (and ignorance/confusion/misguidedness about health).

So anyway, I support the idea of a fourth meal but I wish we had a fuller perspective on where to get our meals.
